Livingstone Shire Library users now have access to an enormous range of music after Council teamed up with global media company, Library Ideas™.
The network features Public Library websites including Freegal™ Music which features over 13 million songs available to the public for free streaming and downloading.
The Freegal™ Music service allows the Livingstone Shire Library to increase both the size and diversity of its free music collection available to the community.
The service, which started in August last year, also has popular music videos available for download and a streaming music option which sees library cardholders accessing and listening to entire albums by their favourite artists.
Councillor for Community Development Jan Kelly said that Council was very excited to offer a service that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices and simplicity of use.
“This service has proved to be incredibly popular with members of the library in our community since its introduction in 2017,” Cr Kelly said.
“It’s another great initiative that the library staff at Livingstone Shire Council has been able to bring to the Capricorn Coast to expand the resources that we provide our residents.”
Brian Downing, co-founder of Library Ideas said that Sony Music has an incredibly expansive and popular catalogue and the company was really excited to partner with them on this important product for libraries in regional areas.
“The participation of so many leading independent labels also helps the library reach as many patron groups as possible,” Mr Downing said.
Registered members of the Livingstone Shire Library can download a selection of Freegal Music tracks monthly, available in MP3 format, at no direct cost.
