Essential Household Contents Grant

The Essential Household Contents Grant is to help people who are uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, with a contribution towards replacing or repairing essential household contents, such as beds, linen and whitegoods, that have been lost or damaged in a disaster.

This grant provides up to $1765 for single adults and up to $5300 for couples/families.

To apply for assistance, phone the Community Recovery hotline on 1800 173 349.

 Immediate Hardship Assistance

Immediate Hardship Assistance is available as a contribution to support people directly impacted by a disaster to meet their immediate essential needs for food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.

This assistance provides $180 per person, up to $900 for a family of five or more. The grant is available to claim for seven days following the activation of the grant in your area.

If you believe you may be eligible and require immediate assistance, please call 1800 173 349 and you will be contacted  by a Queensland Government officer to discuss your application and make an appointment.

Telstra assistance package

Telstra have announced an assistance package for its residential and small business customers in and around Yeppoon and Rockhampton who have lost fixed telephone and BigPond services as a result of  ex-Tropical Cyclone Marcia.

Telstra’s relief packages are available for customers who have suffered:

  • short term impact – temporary evacuation of premises or temporary fault for a maximum period of 3 months from the date of the disaster
  • long term impact – severe damage to or loss of their premises

Affected customers should call Telstra on 132 203 to report a fault on their services and/or to register for their assistance package offers.

TO DONATE: Any individuals, business or corporate organisations wanting to assist communities impacted by Cyclone Marcia by donating goods should contact GIVIT.

GIVIT utilises a unique web based virtual warehouse that eliminates the need for organisations to physically collect and store donations.
